He was a famous Minstrel Clown

Freddy “Booty Jim” Jones was a famous clown from Monroe who played many stages between the 1940’s and the mid 1960’s.

Jones, known as “Booty Jim,” traveled the country performing in comedy shows called “Rabbit Foots” which were minstrel shows. Dressed in Black Face, Jones and other stars such as Man Tan Moore, Ethel Waters and “Lasses Brown” amused audiences with their humor and funny antics.

He died May 5, 1996 at the age of 85.
